Default Mixing concerns

I have been mixing and mastering from my own home studio I no that the room I mix in is bass heavy and so I have dipped the frequencies from 125Hz in a slow curve to 31 to compensate for this.

The upper frequencies I have left flat. My concern is that my top end of my mixes seem a bit too toppy and people have said that I dont tend to turn every thing up in my mixes though to me the levels dont sound too bad.

I dont tend to push my monitors for two reasons
1 I am in a built up area with other people to consider where sound is a factor
2 my ears fatigue quickly when it comes to playing music loud and I can jno longer make critical decisions

I am woundering what I can do to address this any help would be much appreciated at this time

the monitors I am using ar active alesis mark 1 mrk 2s

Do you mean when you listen on other systems? This may be the case and you may have to deal with it just like you have dealt with your low end problems.

I'm not sure what you mean. If "everything" wasn't turned up, the entire mix would be quiet. Is this what you mean?

So your cds, overall, sound quieter than the competition?

I've got an article in the archive for this:
