Hey, I just spent a sleepless night waiting for 9am to rush to the shop to buy a Fast Track USB Audio Interface (M-Audio Fast-Track Usb Guitar Interface) with all the money I just got paid and I am having problems now. They may be minor but I'm either too stupid or too tired to realise how to fix this, I really could use some help setting this thing up to work in my idealized way .Well, I assumed the audio interface would act as an amp with a guitar jack and would improve the sound of my guitar slightly then transmit the sound to my laptop via USB to be recorded into either audacity, cubase or fruityloops to be manipulated further. Instead I get no sound coming from my laptop and it's not being recorded onto any track in audacity or cubase. I got the vista driver upgrade but I can't get sound. I've read a lot of online questions but can't understand/find a similar problem. Is there a way to get the usb audio interface to act as a kind of guitar amp that transmits the sound to my laptop through the usb wire to be recorded onto say, a new fruityloops or cubase track to mix and master? I'd really prefer not to use external speakers but I will if it's absolutely essential, It'd be great to fix this problem as I always have the option to plug in my speakers anyway. Sincerely would appreciate help from you |

It's ok, I figured out the sound issue, got sound. Realised what latency was and omg how terrible!!! It's unbearable to use the internal laptop speakers with this piece of machinery!!! Got out some external speakers, re-installed the software and have a pretty sweet setup going on, hope it remains. Apologies for the boy who cried wolf actions, but I'm absolutely exhausted |

Dude - welcome to the world of Gizmology. I buy lots of electonics for both my audio recording studio and my video editing studio. I have come to expect that nothing will work right off the bat, it will have less than stellar customer support, and will take at least a day to get working. Just upgraded the video editing from standard definition to high definition. Now that was a nightmare. Only cost an extra $200. in hardware nobody told me I'd need....
