unfortunately there are a lot of posts on the net by people complaining about their lexicon alpha lampda & omega.

I can't believe they are all bad.

What opsys are you using. Are you sure billyG didnt force a download of some unwanted update that screwed up your pc.
pls tell me you are not using son_of_bob aka vista or win7.

Lots of reasons for noise. Could be the pc doing it.
could be the hardware. cant tell from here.

google this site and then the net for noise
and various keywords one at a time eg electrical, audio , lexicon, etc.

we really need to knwo a lot more about the whole set up to speculate better about the problem. I stronlgy suspect the pc and the way it is set up but there are other possibilities.

What's weird is that it record a few tracks fine. And I think last fall when I first got it, it worked in Cooledit just fine.

So what changed?

did billyG force some updates into your pc?

you add other software?

if it worked once it would work now unless something got changed.

Default Re: Lexicon Alpha noise when overdubbing...

PC should be fine. It's only used for audio...no internet connection
Using Windows XP SP2 2.4ghz Intel M with 1 gig RAM.

Had a Sounblaster USB soundcard for last few years...been working fine.
but card doesn't allow for direct monitoring.....so wanted a better card, for this .

But upgraded to the Alpha, and once installed,Audition recognizes it,and I can play audio ,and it's fine

i can record audio,and it's fine

but ,for over dubbing (recording,on one track, while listening to previous recorded track) ...then the previous recorded track,is played back,as if white noise/or distortion ,was added. Can't record like this

Tried it in audacity...same problem

If i stop recording...and play back,it's fine

So is the recorded part, plays back fine.....but ONLY while monitoring the previous recorded tracks,do I have this problem.

weird...but i've read a few folk, having same problem....a post was answered, with a link. saying adobe audition has specific settings..but the link doesn't work anymore

(actually,a page from Lexicon pops up,with a error message)

thanks

are you sure it is not coming from inside the pc.
many settings can cause noiselike symptoms.

Not possitive

But if I play back ,all is fine.
If i record,all is fine

just when I do both ,at the same time,is there a problem.
the playback tracks have loud hiss/distortion,but recorded track sounds fine.

Hit stop
Press play, and both tracks play back fine...but can't record, without playback tracks making loud hiis sound

Tried uninstalling drivers, then re installing latest.
No difference.
Tried Audacity.
Same thing, records fine, but while recording, playback tracks full of hiss /distortion/pink noise

I don't have Cubase installed, which came on the main installation disc.

Help
Thanks

Default Re: Lexicon Alpha and Adobe audition problem

Called Lexicon, and finally fixed the problem!

with so many variables,it's hard to diagnose problems, based on what is said (typed) here.

This is what I was told to do:

Set tracks to 32 bit (mine was set on 16 bit)

set to 32 bit, 3 byte packed PCM (mine was set on 4 byte)

Rebooted Audition and now no noise, during record/playback

Thanks for all the help here!

friendly,helpful folk...glad to join up.

Hopefully ,I will be able to help ,as well

okay
the alpha is different

Is it set up right?
Buffers, sample rates matched, whatever.
If this thing can do that, then look at all the options and settings.

Nope

Can't possibly cover all the software out there, that will work, with an audio interface.

Is Adobe audition the only one ,needing changes, for it to work with the Lexicon Alpha?

Lexicon is much better, these days, than years ago, when they'd never update drivers, for their hardware interface, for the PC.

glad it's working!!
and for $79 !!
