Hey dudes,

If you've got some spare time, do yourself a favor and listen to these rants by Slipperman. He's a big dog dude and is a bad ass engineer. He usually grabs a topic speaks on it for 2 minutes and then starts ranting and raving about whatever. However, in these rants is an enormous amount of knowledge if you keep your ears peeled.

I'm referring to the audio clips at the bottom of the page, by the way.

haha glad to see this link up. I started reading it a couple weeks ago and then saw the audio at the bottom and just started listening to that. There is more info in the posts I thought. I just think the whole thing is funny as shit.

Palmers are/were expensive speaker loads/simulators. They are really good but not the ticket for heavily distorted stuff. Slipperman tries to get the most disgusting tones he can coax from them and it's not pretty. They're great for clean and semi distorted but slipperman pushes them beyond all hope...

Oh hell, I knew that. I've got a buddy who has one. You can plug a tube head directly into them. I wouldn't mind having the option to use these in tandom with a real cabinet. Wagener blended all kinds of shit into the tone of his guitars and it did add something. I certainly wouldn't want to rely on this simulator, but if blended in properly, they have their use.

I'm in. . . Please triple check sentences. Spell check doesn't do it all.

The Slipster is quite the cat. Some of the files are missing from that thread so here is a link to all the good stuff. The top of the page has a link to "#2 - Slippermans recording distorted guitars from hell". They are in there.

Enjoy.
