I've searched around for some answers on this as I know it's a common one. What I want to know is if I have the right tools for removing tape hiss and mastering. I have Cubase SX with the TC Native bundle and Soundforge 6.0. I need to unhiss and make my tapes sound as good as I can. If this has been answered before and you can point me to the right thread that's cool. Also I have no idea how to master at all or what's involved. Is there a tutorial or anything and again do I have the right tools? Cheers! |

For noise reduction, I would go with a dedicated plugin... there are several out there. Maybe there's even one in your TC bundle. They grab a signature of the noise which makes it easier to deal with... Sony Creative Software - Noise Reduction DirectX Plug-In 2.0 Expensive! High-resolution audio noise reduction plugin - Redunoise - Voxengo Use this as a VST in Cubase. Voxengo products are first class. BIAS SoundSoap Pro think this one is standalone. BIAS is a great name in audio. |

Cheers! I've downloaded the Voxengo redunoise as it's free. Bit unsure how to use it but I'm having some luck with the presets on there. Couldn't find a price for the BIAS one, but i'm guessing it's quite pricey? |

| The SoundSoap 2 is $129.00 as a download and the SoundSoap Pro 1 is $599.00 as a download.

Right thought things were going ok with the voxengo but it appears to be putting 1 second gaps in my audio after procesing! Any clues? Also If anyone can clue me in how to work it properly, I'd be very greatful!

If you were to get SSpro as part of the Masters Perfection suite, it doesn't hurt so bad. But seriously, SSpro is top-flight Smithsonian-level restoration. I imagine the Vonego and SS2 are similar in quality and results.

![]() But yeah I'm also broke so I'm guessing i'll change the direction slightly back to my question about whether I can de-hiss with maybe EQ-ing or something? Any tips? |
