Default Finally made and installed some panels !!!

Ok. Finally got all the panels up. When you walk into the room now, it feels like its sucking all the air out of you ears. Ive listened to some music in there, but have not had a chance to record and mix something new. I trashed my studio putting them up, but its now the cleanest its been in a while. I have about $24 in each one. The corner ones are 4" thick so they are a little more, $32. Here are some pics. Im done for a while. Time to enjoy.

Only half the mess. Didnt take any more pics of the mess.

My new ugly couches (have 2). Giving up the plaid couches. They will be gone next friday. Daughter is taking them.

Here is a build thread I did at another forum. Sorry thaught I posted here as well.

Didnt take long at all. Maybe and hour. Next ones will be quicker. I will assembly line them. Im using 2" Roxul 60 panels (2' x 4'). For the lumber I used 1x3 premium furing strips (Lowes). I cut those at 4' for the sides and 25 1/2" for the top and bottom. I joined those by utilizing a corner clamp and 1 1/2" drywall screws. I pre-drilled and c'sank the holes for a flush finish. I then rounded all sharp edges. Next I stretched and stapled the burlap (JoAnn Fabrics). Then I placed the Roxul panels in. They were a nice tight fit. When I was at Lowes I bought some 24" insulation hangers. I thaught they would be over 24 " wide, and went ahead and got them. Well they are exactly 24". They are designed for 24" on center building applications and are put in between the joists (with a bow in them) to hold up insulation. So I was thinking at least 25". Nope !!! But I got them to work by drilling some holes for them to stick into the corners. The next one I will staple some old 1/8" molding I have onto the inside (at 3 places) to shrink the inside dimension so I can put the wires straight across. I will post a pic of the next one. I am making 16 of these (1/2 black and 1/2 white) to go with the red walls in the control room. The black ones I am going to paint the wood edge facing out black. You can see from the picture the wood showing through. Anyway, Im gonna head back out and get some more done. Here are some pics

Nice job!

Nice going on the 'upholstering' part as well.. I never manage to make anything that looks pretty; it always looks homemade.

What are the absorption coefficients of the materials you used?.. It'd be interesting to see what those corner panels are doing to the low end.

what was your goal when you set out?

I guess I was just going for it. I used Roxul panels. As far as results, How does a newbie like me scientifically do it. I had some reverb issues and bass sounded lower in that room, than what it played on others systems in other rooms. As far as material wise, I cant wrap a damn present, but covering these wasnt so bad. I was going to record some new stuff tonight, but had to do something else. Hopefully tomorrow, I can try the room out.

I think you did great on the panels. The Asian thingies were a nice touch too. I would have never thought of that.

My panels like like total shit compared to yours.

Now I'm hoping you get the results you were hoping for. That room looks great, but it doesn't look that big.

I'm just not that crafty for woodworking the frame. I just wrapped the cloth around and used a lot of hot glue and duct tape. But it works.
I was totally thinking about making designs on the fabric, but I thought it was going to look cheesy. Your finished product has proven me wrong. Looks friggin awesome.

Room is around 12 x 12. Must be all those (16) panels. Yea, Im happy with it. Mixes sound pretty much on the money. What I hear there, is what I get elsewhere. I had trouble stretching the first few. But I got use to it.
