Default drum sample library..

Hey.
Ive been looking rounbd on the net for a while now for some good drum samples and while there are quite a few samples out there it is sometimes hard to find the right one for you.

So since drum sampling is a pretty common thing during the mixing process i was thinking is that we could all get together here on recording review.com and try and put together a comprehensive drum sample library thats free for anyone to download and use.

SO if you have some samples of kick/snare/toms or even a whole kit, zip em up and upload em for us to use.

If you could state the genre of music that they could be "best" used in that woul dbe awesome

Thanks guys, Ill try and get some sample of a kit im recording next week up..if it sound any good at all.

P.S. If this idea is shit and a waste of peoples time, let me know..im not gonna care too much....I might cry mysef to sleep for a few night but im sure a new mic will help me get over that

I like this idea.

I think it should not be limited to drum kits. Just like BFD expansian packs, I'd like to hear some marchingband stuff, some industrial equipment banging around, and a hammer hitting a Cadillac drum brake(actually in a BFD pack.)

We will need to be sure we have a formula for the samples. I'm thinking a picture with it mic'd, list of mics used, and a labeled chart. Example would be:
1, 2, 3= light hits
4,5,6,7=med hits
8,9,10,11,12=hard hits
13=rim shot
14,15=flam
Then each wave should have the mic abbreviation before the sample number: D4 would be direct mic med hit; OH8 would be overheads hard hit and so on.

I very rarely record drums, so unfortunately I won't be adding to this library, but just out of curiousity, String7th, what does "flam" mean?...

I'm no drummer, so excuse my ignorance!

It's when you bring both your stick down on the drum, 1 hand slightly after the other. a very quick double hit.

Same here (no, I didn't have an accident). My studio's been busy providing sound support for various bands in the southeastern region.
