Default Do Faster Preamps Increase The Need For De-essers?

I've been contemplating selling my Vintech 1272 and getting an API lunchbox (or possibly rack mount). I've not been able to test the APIs since I've been to Wageners and learned the value of mic pres, but I've heard very good things from many people about them.

Anyway, from what I hear, the APIs are a little faster than my Vintech 1272. I was just wondering if, with vocals, for example, if the the faster preamp increases the need for a de-esser? Obviously fast transients are great for snares, toms, etc. I was just curious if it was it was enough of a different to be a problem with vocals.

Just curious.

I've never thought of it that way... I guess it can be a problem but it would seem to be better dealt with at the mic... software is not a bad option as far as de-essers go....

Yeah, it was just something that popped in my head. The mic almost always the culprit (after the singers poor mic technique anyway).
