As with most nonstandard "effects," it was probably stumbled upon by accident and someone thought it sounded cool. There are so many variables that to create that "effect" would mean to have the same guitar/amp/mic/room setup and play the same thing as the song. If you want it to sound exactly like the sample, just put the CD in and push play and you have the song. If you want a roomy/distant sound, add some heavy room reverb. Effects don't usually sound cool because they are cool effects themselves, but because the instrument is being played to cater to the effect. Any other riff or distortion with this effect would likely sound quite lame. nonetheless, try distortion->heavy room verb. |
