very cool article... actually I'd like to know how many times he overdubbed tracks (if any) of that "one fader"?

One thing I was hoping you'd write about was how he went about "placing" mics... you wrote about mic and pre selection but not placement... placement is sometimes more cut and dried with a "hard rock" type band than with a ton of acoustic instruments but I was curious....
