Default connecting a bbe sonic maximizer to an mbox

how would i do this?
the sonic max. has a left and right input and a left and right output
and the mbox has a left and right monitor out and inputs and a left and right spidf channel
could i connect it without using a mixer?

First of all, I'm not convinced that the BBE process is a good thing. I've used them very sparingly only when desperate. Adding fizz to a signal is highly over rated and you'll probably eventually stop using it.

Having said that, the BBE is line level, so it needs to come after the preamp. I don't know what routing options the your Mbox gives you as to sending the signal elsewhere after the preamp.

One option would be to use external mic preamps then send the signal to the BBE and then send the signal to the Mbox.

Well, that's kind of sort of a way of describing it, but I'm not sure if I would use "air" to describe the Sonic Maximizer.

If we have similar definitions of "roomy", then it's just an issue of either using room mics, recording in a very live room, or using reverbs to get the bigger room sound.

What midi drums were you using?

Send me a link to that thread.

Well, you may be triggering these drums with MIDI, but if BFD is anything like DHF Superior (which I'm pretty sure they are very similar) you still have to really mix to get what you need. It's just like tracking real drums. There is a lot of engineering going on.

If you are getting boxy drums with high quality samples, the solution is pretty straightforward. Nuke 500Hz and be careful not to use to much of the snare top. Meat is good, but excessive meat turns into junk in a hurry.
