Don't get the wrong idea dude. No one is ripping on your here. It's just you've been very vague about a topic that pro dudes spend 80 hours per week for 40 years to get right and then they still aren't happy.
My advice is to post an mp3 in Bash This Recording so we can specifically address your recording or ask more specific questions in Audio Engineering and elsewhere. Brandon
