Man - Something is up with my beta52. I go to do set up for drum tracking today - and my beta isn't working!!! I cant any gain out of it - I've tried everything - swapped cables..channels...mic pres...theres just a super faint signal thats going into it. Im not sure what to do, and dont really feel like dropping 200 bucks for a new kick drum mic - but this maybe a good time to pick up an Audix d6 or something. any thoughts? anyone here good with ac theory or microphone repair?

On the other hand, if you can't wait and your confident with pulling things apart (or more importantly.....putting them back together) take the stem apart (the bendy bit you plug into). Normally you will just find a broken connection, on the cable, from constant bending and vibrations. The other possibility is that the wire connection on the capsule has fallen off. It is rare for a 52 to blow out the capsule or transformer so grab your continuity tester and give it a go. You have nothing to lose at this stage. Baron
