I got those MK-o12-01 mics on close out for $69 each at Guitar Center They don't handle them anymore. I have found them in various places (eBay) for about $250 each....

Seems like mine are real...They have all the properties of the real one (on the left of this "fake or real" page) silver sputtered contacts, serial numbers, metal not plastic mic clips, tiny white screws not black, -10db pad capsule, The case looks identical to the real one only mine is black not grey, Russian paperwork with hand written date of manufacture of 30/05/03.... only mine has the A.S.M printed on the housing. And it's spelled Oktava with a "V" not that funny looking "B" letter...
So...I dunno. What do y'all think?
BUT, They sound better than my old studio project C4's...Sooooo
I don't care where they were made....they sound good!

^ You're right, sound is all that matters and yours seems to be legit. The B is pronounced as V in pretty much all Slavic languages if I'm not mistaken. And now that I look at the official dealer: Untitled Document they show them with black cases and spelled with the V so there's nothing to worry about.

That mic would be among the worst choices for ohed mics. The V69 would be a decent choice, NT1's also.... NT3 are excellent, NT5's too and of course the MK12's are legendary. If a LDC is used, you can expect to cut below at least 100hz and it should be done in the analog domain. Really, i don't think you should use an LDC for oheds unless you know what you're doing. Pencil condensers are recommended and are typically the choice of pro's too. Ribbon mics can be great also.

Alright, I'm inspired. I'll try my Oktava Mk012s on overheads. I haven't done that in four or five years. Now I just have to figure out what the hell I want to put on toms!

Hey Brandon would you be able to post on your experience with this? I think I'll be buying a pair of MK012's for overheads and I'm curious as to how you'd...rate them.

Cheers
