Default Picture to Burn

Recorded in my home studio. This is my country cover band. I really think our lead singer is amazing. What do you think about the track for our press kit..

Hi, I'm a total newbie to this forum and still a newb recording. The thing that caught me the quickest was your singer's great voice which I think suited the dry recording. Also really liked your bass sound - sounds full - mine always sounds like crap! - and a nice solid snare and toms. Couldn't hear the kick overly or the hi-hat. Cymbals didn't quite pack the same punch as the rest of the kit. Seems to have all the elements and the instruments aren't competing (except for kick drum and bass - maybe try eq notching) but it doesn't sound like the instruments are quite blending yet. Wish I could give you advice or tips but I struggle with this in my mixes. Catchy tune though - and I'm not even a country fan! Cheers, Ian

Great singer! I'm impressed. The vocal sound is excellent too. I cranked it way up expecting it to make my ears bleed. No pain at all. Great job!

The only real weakness I'm hearing has to do with the electric guitar in the chorus. Something is a little weird in it. I'm not sure what what it's doing, but I'd look into it. I think it may be out of tune, but I can't be sure.

If you could get that worked out in the chorus, this one is ready for the radio....except it's a catchy song and I like it.....which means that it probably isn't good for country radio. My girlfriend listens to country radio all the time. I swear they play 7 GREAT songs per year and the rest just makes me wish the Russians would have blown us up.

That made me laugh! I agree! I'm certainly no fan of country but this song sounds excellent. Vocals sound exquisit but could do with a little reverb during the full band parts & dry it up for the breakdown bit. Not fussed on the electric guitar sound - sounds to processed - needs something earthier, like an old Fender Deluxe pushed within an inch of it's life. Drums & bass a great.

The vocals get REALLY strong and tight on the chorus when the singer hits her stride (and opens up her throat), but on the verse they sound a bit pinched or something...

Do you need original material? Your singer's good enough to break out with something new, I think.

You and me both! But this actually IS a cover of the country radio hit by Taylor Swift, the 18-year old country/teenpop crossover star.

I guess that shows how out of touch with the charts a lot of us (myself inclued) really are......cause I thought ocarus or someone in that band wrote it, and I was gonna say it sounds better than most of the drivel I hear coming out of Nashville these days...

Taylor Swift is kinda sorta the LeAnn Rimes of the late 00's...although Swift writes her own material...

Swift had a major publishing deal at 13! Damn.
