Default One For Bashing

Here is another one for bashing. This was a tune I wanted to try recording a box drum that I built this past spring.
Thanks

You write some nice catchy, visual songs!

I'd bring up your acoustic guitar. I know you're trying to highlight the box drum, but I recommend bringing the guitar up a bit so they're complementing each other.

Also, I'd bring the "cricket" down a little.

Overall, I like the song!

Hey Tony:
Here is a remix taking your advice and I like it much better. Please take a listen and let me know what you think. I am still a newbie to the mixing part but learning more every day and having fun!!!

I don't have a proper set of monitors yet and am just using the computer speakers which are a pretty nice set with several adjustments and external power source so better than just a plug in two speaker computer sound sys. I mix down mostly with headphones and a vst that allows me to better emulate the sound of a small bedroom studio. No guest here, spare bedroom is the studio!!!. Through my headphones it sounds almost perfect to an old guy with a bum left ear but through computer speakers not so great.
I do appreciate the listen and the comments. Thanks AWG

I'm glad I found this little gem. What a catchy tune!I think your vocals and the whole production fits this tune perfectly.A super clean polised version would only take away from the magic.Sure it could be mixed a little better but you don't want to mess with it too much and kill the songs Mojo.
This sounds like a tune you would hear in a movie sountrack(O brother where art thou) in the backround.Glad I found this tune.Great song and performance.

Thanks rocker you made my week!! I do appreciate the kind words. I am learning somewhat that less can be better on mixing, especially VST's. Glad you liked the tune.

Outstanding! Now the instruments are playing well with each other. I can hear the guitar strumming.

I'm with rockerdude. You don't need pricey monitors to record and mix what you're doing. You captured the right vibe!

Like I said before, you know how to paint a picture in word and song.

Hey, nice song.

Nice mix too. I'd put a bit more top end in it to bring out the harmonics, but that's just being picky.

But what's abox drum and how do I make one?

Love

The Tig
