a song about loss, bout it. maybe a little overdramatic, but that's where i was at the time. My one main critic to date is that it doesn't sound very country. Thanks, great comment. I thought country was a better catagory than hard rock or techno

I like this recording. It is not so loud and in your face which is appropriate for this song. The guitar tone is nice and the vocals are present enough. Is there too much FX on the vocal? The only negative thing I can say is I hear a fan noise or something every once in awhile. This song would be good for a movie sound track. |

A heartfelt and well written song lyrically and musically. 'and the band played on' catches the listeners attention. spanish guitar solo a tad too loud but very nice. Cello? string sound near the end effective and i think should be featured more strongly. Vocal sound not sure, at first I thought far too much treatment and would benifit from a more unadultareted sound, but on second listening not sure. The vox treatment sounds vunerable which may be not a bad thing and reminded me of some Moody Blues songs such as 'isnt life Strange' and the theme from MASH Last edited by paulwalshmusic; 05-06-2009 at 11:13 PM. |

A song like this, about this, is one which really eclipses all opinion and is only really pure to the one who wrote it / performed it. Its really brave - well done. This has a real vulnerability about it that speaks to me..... There is hurt in this song, I can see - and therefore it has done its job.

From a recording standpoint, would like to have heard a little more stereo field, and a bit crisper sound. From an arranging/performance standpoint, as I always say, less is more. The simplicity of the guitar, the lilting sense of the harmony and the single note accompaniment after the guitar solo are just excellent. From a song standpoint, moving lyrics and a joy to listen to. Great job! jjb |

I like this. Sometimes the vocal disappears a bit, I would use more leveling type compression on the vox. The doubling on the vocal is too much for my taste. Nice nylon string solo...I like the echo but would rather hear it more subtle. What's important though is that the soul and emotion is real. Good job!

Okay, I listened again. Sorry for my not-so-helpful initial comment. I pretty much agree with everyone else. Very emotional, very dark song. I'd like to hear a bit more production on it, like maybe some percussion elements (hand drums and bells come to mind), but that's just me. As far as what you've got right now, I wouldn't change much. It seems to work well as-is. The only thing I'd do is try some automation on the vocals to bring up the parts where it gets lost and then use compression to control the dynamics. I'm gonna go cry now.

Hey John, Really dark song, but very cool retro feel. I also agree that this one would fit into a movie of some kind. I liked the doubled vocal. It just seemed to work with the mood of the song. Nothing bothered me enough to recommend changing any thing. If you decide to make some changes keep this version in a safe place. I think it's a keeper! |
