Default Lets go for a ride

I hope i can do this. I'll have to post a link because I don't have the mp3 handy.

I recorded this with a pcdrummer, buy one $50 AKG get one free, and a Behringer EURORACK UB802 going into the mic input on a laptop to audition 3.x

I'm new at this
First song that plays:
gregplusmusic on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Videos

my monitors are bose bookshelf speakers being played through a sony stereo amp. am I going in the wrong direction with that sort of setup? (for detailed mixing, i use headphones)

Nice song. Mixdown via headphones or regular speakers is much more difficult than using monitors, since both cans and regular speakers reproduce with one "bias" or another (i.e., don't have a flat response). With that said, you did a pretty good mix-down. Only suggestion is to try to get the harmony to sound tighter. Now it sounds like multiple people singing, rather than a group doing harmony. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome, and the speaker talk. I'm new to recording, and even newer at harmony, so yeah, i need to tighten that up a tad. Thanks for the "bash"

I think the drums sound pretty good, but slightly mechanical. The high hat tone was a little flanged though. There was a slight timing issue at about half way when everything stopped and came back in. I might tuck the background vocals (BGV's) back a bit in the mix. That be be enough to make them sound tighter. I loved the sound on the lead guitar, nice and thick. Monitor rule when it comes to mix down. Phones can be used as a reference to check for separation and such, but most of your mix decisions should be based from your monitors.

Thanks. It's a 97 Guild Bluesbird. I played the lead on the neck pickup clean channel 25w tube amp and boss OD.
