yeah ...this is the driest thing I've ever done , I think ....I admit I was trying my damndest to be hip and trendy and cool and "this week" . Seriously , I thought the "drummer" over in the corner of the room carried the ambience thing so I left the rest untouched .I find reverb on the acoustics creates problems for me most times but perhaps you have a point with using some on the vocals ..thanks.. |

It's a very agreeable song.

i don't think reverb is quite the solution that would fix this. i agree with most of the comments above. with regards to the guitar it sounds like the microphone may have been placed to close to the guitar. try backing it up just a little bit to get more of the body instead of just the bite. also maybe re-examine the room that you are recording the acoustic in. even the tiniest bit of room sound wouldn't hurt you on this if it was a good sounding room

Hey ...I actually missed this last reply ....wish I'd seen it sooner. I really like the idea of backing the mic off of the acoustic to give it some room sound . I did have it miked VERY tight . Makes complete sense , though , and I overlooked that approach totally . I thought I'd learned that lesson with the drum tracks ...sometimes its not about the plugin or effect but the "space" (...air?) around the kit. Stands to reason acoustic instruments would benefit from the same attention . Thanks for this idea and everyonje's thoughts. Roysboy |
