Default Help a noob

Here's a little instrumental I did. I've been recording just for my own satisfaction the past few years, and this is my first attempt at using Logic Express. My rig is real simple - a Shure KSM27, a Soundcraft mixer, and my imac G5 / Logic. Guitars (a Yamaha acoustic and a Gretsch 5122) were recorded using the KSM27 (the Gretsch thru a DRRI). Drums are a Roland kit.

Bash away!

Thru my headphones, the lead guitar sounds like its panned right a bit more than I'd expect for a lead instrument. And its a little bright (treble), but only a little. Did I hear a few instances of feedback (one at 7 seconds in)? If not, what is that? Finally, could hear ambient noise after the song ended...why not cut that out?

Nice tune, nice playing.

Thanks... on the next pass, I'll try and center the guitar a bit more. I haven't EQd the lead at all, so I'll try shaving the highs a bit as well. Haven't yet cleaned up the noise yet, but will in the next pass. I can't hear the feedback you describe from my ipod. I'll have to check it out from home. Perhaps its the harmonica?

I'm not happy with the drums...they probably need to be brought forward a bit more.

Thanks for the kind words on my playing...I consider myself a basement hack, so I guess I'm making progress.

really nice clean sound on everything ...love the guitar sounds ...lots of natural character ....I agree the snare could come up a little in the mix. Harmonica is a tough one to deal with due to intonation , I find ...this one sounds ever so slightly out of tune to your track ..nothing a little natural vibrato on it couldn't fix though .

overall a nice job .....
