Default Foreclosure Blues (Cracker Style)

Hi Folks:

Here is a tune I would appreciate bashing. This tune came to me last weekend and I been playing with it some this week trying my best learn the art of engineering a tune!! This is the second mixdown and in terms of engineering and rather than the performance, it is one of my better mixes. I have a heck of a time remembering that in digital more is not necessarily best Anc compression can be our enemy. I really would appreciate some feedback on what I can improve in the engineering aspect. Heck I know I can't sing but am a brilliant lyrist

Thanks,
Butch

Thanks, still gotta work on the mix down. It's taking me some time to not think in analog when working in digital:
I think this mix got the panning better and I used eq to help bring the guitar volume up but I think I am going to have to break down and buy a preamp.

Been reading lots about a Behringer DI100 sounds like lots of people use it and like it. I am using MAudio FastTrack USB interface. Do you know if the Behringer is compatiable with the FastTrack.

That is one fine gear list you got there!!!.

Later,
Butch

yeah .....guitar/vocal and somethin to say ....beautiful ...like Dylan / Neil Young / Springsteen .....I'd like to here a tad more high end on your vocal and maybe put it in the centre of your mix. Not sure why you are concerned about a pre-amp ..your vocal is nice and **** and fat as it is ...just a little muddy ...

Hey Roy: Sorry, meant to say that I needed to preamp my guitars. I do know there is a problem with the vocals. I guess it is a combination of technical issues as well as confidence issues. Until a couple weeks ago I had never attempted doing vocals. I wrote lyrics but rarely sang them and stayed with instrumentals. I can be working on a project, playing singing and writing and my voice sounds more relaxed and flowing. Put me in front of a mic and it sounds tense and forced!! I worked on this tune over the weekend and plan on recording the revisions today. Got you on the centering the vocal better and more high end, thanks!
