Thanks appreciate all the bashes. This is a one mic adlib of this tune and I know there is much work to do before a final mix. Appreciate the input and will be put to use for sure.

Actually that's a very nice song. I've listenned though about 5 times. Yeah, that guitar's way too boomy. Perhaps some accoutic treatment where you are sitting? Need not be expensive - you can use big coats on chair backs behind a mic for e.g.
You say its a one mic recording, so its too far from guitar AND mouth! You can hear the white noise beacause the gain was right up.
Love,
Tigs

Hello Tigs:

Thanks for the critique and the tips. I will definitely remember the acoustic treatment behind the mic. I just did this one with a single mic to kinda help me with finishing the lyrics, which I have finally done, I think I have done a couple more recordings of the music and have made some changes there. Hopefully I will get this one finalized and recorded this week. When I do I will post it and let you have another listen. I do appreciate feedback!!

I recommend bringing the vocals up a bit in the mix. It's hard to hear a lot of the words.

Good song; if I can hear the words.

Hey Tony, thanks. I know the vocals are really low as I was kinda testing the quality of the music and using it to help finish writing the lyrics. Now I think I did too much as I have ended up with over 6 minutes of lyrics and am having a heck of a time getting it recorded with a consistent tempo/sound. I will definitely post an update when I get one and appreciate further comments. Can you believe it I have been working on this tune for over 6 months now off and on? Thanks for the feedback

Try moving the guitar mic 1/2 way between the sound hold and the 12th fret. Also experiment with some compression on both the vocal and guitar tracks. Especially the guitar as its volume is really up and down often completely covering up the vocal. I think you know the vocal needs to be quite a bit louder. I really like the song and I think with some more mixing its' message will get through.

Good Morning Husky:

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I will give these a try today. I got side tracked on a couple other projects and kinda shelved this tune but plan on working on it more this week. I ordered an ART Tube MP Studio Preamp that is suppose to be delivered TODAY!!!

I am hoping that this will help with the quality and consistency of my guitar tracks when I record from instrument out of my Maudio FastTrack rather than mic. Without the preamp I have been having to try and deal with volume levels in the mixing process with EQII and other VST's when recording via instrument output.

I do appreciate the comments, they help a lot. Hopefully this week I will get a new recording up for you to give a listen.

I did get a new tune up on my soundclick page that I got side side tracked with It's titled "My Little Garden" would appreciate your comments if you have time to listen. It's kinda unique, it includes another side track project, my box drum (cajon). I built a couple of these this past spring as well as the cricket sound effect maker in the tune. You can see more of the box drums and my new Cigar Box Guitar (Guitcimer) on my website. Couple fun shop projects for a "Domestic Musician" to get side tracked with.

Thanks again!
Later,
awg
