Default Feel'en No Pain

This recording was made in the back room of my house. We used a Presonus Firestudio and a dell inspiron laptop, Behringer mic on the vocals, a AKG c1000 on the guitar, the MusicMan bass was plugged in direct and the drums are vsti Easy Drummer. The DAW is Reaper using the included plugins for reverb, delay and limiters. The guitar mic was placed 1/2 way between the sound hole and the 12th fret marker about 6" away. I'm playing the bass and my friend Joe, who also wrote the song, is playing the guitar and singing the lead. I've got a bunch of mics laying around but Joe's Behringer sounded the best on his voice. On the unaltered track Joe was singing as much as 1/2 step flat at times so I used an automatic pitch correction plug-in (included with Reaper) which did wonders.

Musically, things sound pretty good, but the vocal seems distorted - either it's clipping or you've gone over the top with a "tube ****er" - type plugin.

Thanks, I used an "exciter" pluggin to add some sparkle to his voice and I must have over did it. I'll reconsider using it.
