Hello Everyone: This offering for bashing is the final mix for a tune that had a working title of Foreclosure Blues that was listed here. I think this one is much better and I may finally be getting an understanding of mixing. If I post too many tunes someone let me know. The feedback has helped me learn. Do appreciate any feedback.**** regards from a sunny Florida, finally!!! Butch

there you go , Butch ....nice clean vocal right smack dab in the centre of things and the guitar mixed nicely out of the way of your vocal .....sounds like you are having some fun during the recording of the vocal track ....nice honest lyric ...the whole thing sounds MUCH better overall

. Plus I gotta a forum friend who has been tutoring me on the side for a couple weeks. In fact I am just getting ready to do my first total project with him and look forward to that. His help coupled with the feedbacks have been great!!!I think I have found my genre, country folk blues of a story telling nature. But most important having a great time!!!! Always wished for a couple hours studio time . Guess you can tell I've listened to lots of John Prine![]() Greetings from a **** Florida day 80's!!!! ![]() ![]() Butch

Hey AswegoHometead, The mix sounds good to me. To my tastes I drop a little master reverb make it sound richer. I'd also boost the bass gain on your voice to add some strengh to the low notes on the end of your phrases. The mids don't sound bad but you might also try reducing the frequency to help. All this from a guy who has no idea who John Prine is. Life has been rushing by me and I apologize for never getting to the Kristal site but it sounds like you've got someone to work with personally. Good for you. Also I checked out the reviews on the equipment I have and it sounds like what I've got is top drawer for the price I paid. Oh, by the way I love sports in school. My son plays baseball for the University of New Orleans and just got a handshake from the Saint Louis Cardinals. I don't think the educational system where we live sees the potential for young men and women to get a great college education for free while learning the disciplines it takes to succeed in life. But then we're all different and thats what makes life interesting. You're a good man and I'm glad your doing what you love MikeFM |

Hey Butch .....I would probably agree with adding a tad more bass to your vocal and a tad less reverb. Otherwise , move over Bobby Dylan ....this has a good clean vocal ..much improved from the first mix ....and that's the whole idea of this site isn't it ? I would imagine you have a CD's worth of thoughts you could put to music .....let's hear some more . all the best |

Thanks the the kind words and tips. Funny, I used eq to reduce some of the bass in vocal because I thought it was too much. But I have pretty bad hearing after years on carrier flight decks ![]() Don't get me wrong I am all for sports in school just seems here in our area that is one of the largest foreclosure places in the nation and that seems to be a hot topic around here. My objection is to the way school taxes are collected in Florida via property tax. I am old and my children all grown and out of college, one teacher, one surgeon and one pharmist thanks to academic scholarships and student loans. So I have no children in out local schools yet nearly a thousand dollars of my property tax is identified for schools. I just think in Florida we need a more fair way to tax everyone with children in school even non property tax paying partents. Sorry about the soap box . Thanks again for the feedback.Butch

Butch, In reference to the vocals I think if you play with raising the gain in the bass and lower the frequency in the mids you can come to a place were even the hard to hit low notes are clear. Like you however, I am not an expert so if one of the senior members wants to jump in here an tell me I'm full of it, no problem. On the taxes, I feel your pain. I wish I could say Louisiana has it all together but. . . . . we'll if I said that. . . . . any advice I would give from here on would be in question. One good thing about Louisiana an oil man name Patrick Taylor put up enough money so that any child with an acceptable grade average and SAT score can go to any Louisiana State University tuition free. Both of my children are on TOP's and more than once I have hit my knees and asked God to bless Patrick Taylor where ever he is. Sometime in the near future Bill1 is going to put some horn charts to the song I posted on the bash. Have a great one Mike |

I will give that a try on the vocals. I been off the forum for nearly two weeks now with food poisoning and haven't even picked up a guitar which shows I am near death We definitely need more Patrick Taylors around. That was a fantastic contribution he made. I haven't even looked at the bash entries this month yet. I almost forgot till you mentioned it will have to jump over and see what's in the offering this month. Hope this finds you and yours well. Butch

everything is too mid range . tempo changes to . from one tempo into a rush. Lyrics sound like it is all the same and i mean same guitar with just many ,many lines of lyrics to choice from . all the same style. Get a drum beat behind it. a bass. and catch some type of beat with a grove feel and lock it in, get a country feel. get more chorus in it .add bridge or chorus. it is all a bunch of rushed verses. sorry. but a song has "some " type of patterns to follow. any will do but you are missing the other parts. You will get it. you can get many verses i see. add a chord change with vocals and a chorus. where is the story. give it some feeling man. i am not one to x a song but check out how some of the other songs are built., And watch your tempo. you are rushing it to nowhere without a feeling behind it. |

Thanks for the feedback tis exactly what I needed to hear. I think I tried to rush this one while in a newbie frenzy of wanting to record and should have worked on it more first. I do appreciate the comments, definitely gives me some better direction. Butch
