Question Check this one out!/ Driving Christian-Country

One of the better mixes so far off my band's project. I need a fresh pair of ears to judge the overall eq. Is it too flat? I plan on compressing a little more also. What do you think it needs? I'm remixing and mastering my bands project, so most of my post are regarding this current project. Any constructive comments would be helpful.

Vocals are very nice. The guitar riffs are in the same stereo space as the lead singer and thus compete...moving it somewhere else might make it better. Overall, its a little "flat" to my ears, meaning there's not enough lower end. I'd like to hear a little more bass guitar, and/or some more bottom to the rhythm guitars. But its a good song!

It does sound flat, or kinda like I'm hearing it on AM radio. But it sounds like a very good arrangement.

something sounds out of tune and the very intro the guitar is out.sounds good though. sometimes the vocals go out of pitch. but sounds good. sounds like christian music instead of country.

what everyone else said...or is calling our attention...

the rhythm guitar is odd...sounds like two tracks with a micro verb slap back effect that is either too long or two short...
or maybe it's two separate takes, and the subtle differences are bringing it into the foreground instead of just blending and setting a solid platform for the rest...
and the song might get some relief if it went away or was dropped during the verse?
it's like that guitarist is "trying to hard" or struggling with the song? -
maybe get one track 'correct' nudge it forward on the timeline, line it up with the bass...
instead of sitting in the pocket - what jjb said - competing with the vocal-
at 1:54 I hear a strum in the right that isn't in the left...distracting.
classic modern sound for the christian rock genre, nice work.

Thanks Everyone for responding. You all brought out some things I wasn't hearing. As for the acoustic guitar it is actually stacked(Two separate tracks) panned left&right. I heard some timing issues also. My auto-tune plug in went on the blink just prior to mix down so we will have to correct it old school. I will apply all of your suggestions for improvement. Thanks again for your constructive feedback. That's what makes this site ROCK! Jeff.

I dunno those subtle things that everyone was talking about sorta to me makes this song unique w/ the exception of the lead vocals needing thier own space...... I totally agree on that one but I really like this tune and the mix. Great job yall your making our Father proud!

Thanks again everyone. I will try to tighten up the timing on the acoustic guitars in pro tools. I love the sound but the more I listen the timing thing is distracting. I hope I don't have to re-track the guitars though. They were recorded with a borrowed K84 mic. Thanks again, Jeff.

Potential! Unfortunately, the mix lacks depth and can come across as cheesy; perhaps if you double your main vocal and work on fuller tighter harmonies; Your main vocal is off pitch a hair here and there too. A pitch corrector would help. Some of the harmonies are very 80's and need to be updated. But it has good potential and your use of your instruments is well seated and selected.
