Default The Bird Song/ Christian-Country

Here's another mix I'm not sure about. Been working on it too long.
What would you do differently? Bash away. Jeff.

Nice song, good vox and instrumental execution (very nice drums). Was hard to hear the harmony vox background. How about placing it left and right in the stereo field to make it more pronounced but not fight with the lead vocal? And, at the end I heard a hint of piano, but didn't hear it in the main song. If its there, bring it out more...it sounded nice.

Hey Jeff . First off , I only know what my ears tell me so I can't offer anything technical . But for what its worth ....

I listened to this track through my home stereo speakers and through my shiny new two day old studio monitors ( which to me still sound like listening to music underwater anyway ) and then played a couple contemporaty country tracks through the same for an A-B . I think your mix could stand a hair more top end "sparkle" . Now maybe that's just the quality of the mp3 or some other factor outside of your mixing .
That aside .....what a killer job all around on this tune . The vocals ( you ? ) are really great . Likewise the playing ( sounds like a real drummer here....right ? ) I might bring up the lead guitar level and brighten it . Love the energy , the feel is right in the pocket , the whole thing cooks . If you used compression on this , could you tell me where and how ...cuz I'm a compression challenged and your mix sounds good and tight and present .

Rick

Thanks again. After you write the song, arrange, produce, record, etc...it's hard to tell what it needs. We may re-cut the BGV's their not that tidy. The piano is there through-out but buried in the mix. I'll try your suggestions. Thanks for the comments, Jeff.

Hey Rick,
Thanks for your comments. I'm not the lead vocalist on this song. This one is our main lead vocalist. I think he rocks!! As far as the compression thing, I just play with it till it sounds good to me. Your ears were not playing tricks on you, the overall mix is a little flat to me as well. Just needed someone to confirm it before I started missing with the E.Q. I've been working on this project so long I'm brain dead. Thanks again, Jeff.

Hey Bill1,
Thanks for your comments. This is my contemporary christian band called "Uturn." We are not pro, but we wouldn't mind if we were to take off all of a sudden. This is our first attempt at recording with pro tools. Quite a learning curve. Were still learning as we go. All of the tracks I have posted so far are from this project. Thanks again, Jeff.
