I posted this tune a few days back and got some real helpful replies /suggestions/tips...... I've tried to work with what you folks gave me and remixed the tune ......I think I fixed the piano ( you guys can be the judge) I fixed the acoustic and fattened the bottom ...all as per suggestions ...and slapped a peak limiter on the whole shootin match to give it a bit more presence ....again .....thanks for all the time , folks . BIG help ...especially all the references to the technology available to us ...often free. roysboy |

I did the recording here in "THE DINING ROOM" studio at home ( we now eat at McDonald's....gotta get those priorities straight ) ....wrote it , played it , sang it , mixed it with DIGITAL SOUND PLANET daw and a few plugins suggested to me by members on this forum . good luck ....looking forward to hearing your stuff |

was it pro mastered. it really sounds too good and clean all around to be in a home. were you kidding do you mean your dining room ???if so . it must be your voice. you have a real full nice voice with the country style . radio style YEA> good writing i like it . it is a good mix and a good song title too.

No kidding ...I have my home studio in the dining room .....probably why the wife left . My son is a player and has his drum kit in one corner ....half dozen guitars hangin on the walls and the computer set up in the other corner . All the tracks are done here ...no sound bats or isolation booths ( I wish ) so we just work with what we've got . I'm a writer first so a good production is really the bonus but I have enjoyed learning more about the production and recording end . Thanks for listening and for the encouragement . I'll be looking for some tunes from you |

Best recording and musicianship I've heard on here so far. Just a couple of suggestions. Double the acoustic guitar with a lower capo position. Sounds like the key of the song is in F. Capo the 1st fret and play in E. Pan the Acoustics left and right in the mix. If you have a better piano sound try it. It sounds like an older model Roland RD keyboard. It's not a bad piano sound, but it could be better. Good drummer on the track sounds solid. The mix sounds fine to me. Good stuff, Jeff.

hey ...thanks for the constructive feeback , Jeff....I love the idea of doubling the acoustics and have tried it , in fact , on other tunes. I have found a coupla different pianos but haven't had a chance to replace the one on that particular track since. Its an ongoing battle this stuff isn't it ? By the way the drummer on that track is Mr. Midi ...its a Tama drum kit soundfont Thanks again ....all the best |

I also do drum programing now and then. Very real sounding kit and programming. Great job. Would love to hear the final mix. Keep us posted. Just curious, did I guess the key of song or at least close to it? |

|
key of F it is , Jeff . I have done the drum programming for as long as the machines/software have been programmable so I'm picky about getting a feel as close to real without using loops , of course. I lay them down ( painstakingly ) one track at a time ...kik , snare/tom/cymbal/tamb/perc...etc....tons of work , as you guys are only too aware , I'm sure . I put another tune into the BASH section this AM .....brushwork on that one .. Rick |

I listened to it again. its really good enough to be on country radio. And its something in all recording . its alot to do with a song. your song sounds well built on the chord changes in the right places as well as your vocals really make it happen . whatever your record it on is what it is but your song is a good tune and i guess will always sound goo. because the song is good. good luck with it again. . you have that real country recording style voice. just something about it . it has that style.
