Wow thanks guys. That is some set of ears GB I'm not hearing it. That doesn't mean it's not there. Can you be a bit more descriptive.

On repeated listenings, it's not the worse thing. On the first listening, it really caught my ear. Also, on said listenings, I noticed these little collisions also happen with some tom fills. If I had one word (complimentary) for the current state of Nashville production, it would be "tidy".

I'm sorry if anything I say is a repeat of the others before me. Overall your mix is really nice, but just a couple of nit picky things that jumped out to me. These may just be personal taste things... 1) The piano (keyboard I'm thinking based on the tonality) needs to better EQ'd if possible. The upper frequencies are much heaver than the lower frequencies. You can't do a ton to this after it's recorded, but you may be able to add a little body to the Piano in the low mid's, but be careful not to muddy the overall sound -- This may actually have fallen victim during the mastering process mentioned earlier by Paul999 if you cut a bunch out around 260Hz. 2) Verb is necessary. Not just on the vocals. The drums need more of it, particularly the Snare... Too much verb is definitely a bad thing, but I don't know, something about the song seems to lend a little more verb on the snare. 3) Overall I think that the piano overpowers all the other melodic instruments in the mix (the rhythm section sounds good) and maybe could afford to come down in a mix a little bit. |
