Trying to head back to my funky roots for a moment... horns still sound lame, what about the rest?

Actually, I like the sound - horns sound pretty good. But it doesn't sound funky to me...more like a BGs thing. When I think funky, I think 60's/70's performers (one that comes to mind is Sly and the Family Stone). How do you think of funky?

Thats a hell of an instrumental! It gives me a ol school feel like i was watching an episode of shaft! im a bad shut yo mouth!lol i like how the horns are right up front and in your face and when you dropped them down to hear the horn roll or riff that was smooth! I could go crazy on an instrumental like that! good mix everything is in its own sonic space great job.

How much of this is MIDI samples? The only reason I ask is because it would be nice to do a little poll and make another illustration of the possibilities of MIDI. The only reason I figured it uses samples is it sounds a bit too good to be real.

Funk is a wide ranging genre... a little bit like jazz and pop! This would be 80's/90's style. Listen to the Brand New Heavies, Incognito, Repercussions or even Groove Collective, and you'll hopefully get a sense of where I'm coming from. Incognito is probably a little more like this than and of the others.

Sounds good, horns sound great to me. If you want to give it a lil more "head nod", you might want to turn up the kick drum a little or make it more punchy. Overall all, well done.

I'm feeling this i love dynamics as you will all learn about me soon enough but this is good. the horns don't sound lame to me but i don't know what your going for with them
