please help! bash this trak and mix

Whats good people my name's EDUB and im using cool edit pro 2.0 as my recording platform, I still after doing this for years am troubled with getting my mixes to be wide but not tooooo wide, I normally use the presets but I have just started to mess around with my own. This trak was done using presets but I want any kind of critisicm to push my mixing to the next level. Thanks for taking the time!

ps this was originally saved as a wav then i changed the format so you might have to open it manually to view. if theres problems let me know and i will re upload thanks.

I cant get it to playback. It buffers the data but does not play. Tried to save it disk for a listen and that doesn't work for me.

This thing is REALLY REALLY REALLY harsh. Are you adding an enormous amount of top end?

Make sure to listen to this in other stereos than what you've mixed it on. You've clearly got really, really dark speakers to mix on.

I recommend these NOW!

i figured the top end was too high, i actually just bought rocket5's today so i will drop some of the high's out and see how that works.I actually mixed this with phones on so maybe thats why i overcompensated on the high's. i appreciate that comment..

Any other comments? I have been troubled with the fine line between the levels of my beats vrs my vocals, its either the beat is overpowering the vocals or vice versa, also im using a sound blaster audigy interface with a mixer that came with its software should i mix with the bass and treble on that at 50% or flat? i think this is why my highs are screaming?plus im always trying to get it as crispy as possible but hopefully with the rockit5's ill get a better spectrum

I'd mic it a little closer, then i'd cut back on the verb too. Try putting the main vocal up the center.

I know bout the verb since i used a preset instead of tuning it in myself, as far as the vocals i always have a problem keeping them right in the center? i can center the track compress it and its still all over the place do you have any tips on keeping the vocals in the center of the mix? i heard if you record them mono they stay in the center better is this an option?
