Default Bash this beat

Heres a beat I made a couple of days ago. I think im going to drop the synth in during the hook and lower it during the main vrs, i like the sound of it so i dont know what you think? this one i was using 32nd notes and i havent tracked this out yet to compress i just used the eq on my emu px-7 with its on board effects.

wow you got alot going on in this, and its one of the darkest beats i've ever heard in my life, i feel like someone is going to burst in a window and start sucking my blood. the drums sound a little off. and some of those sounds just clutter up the beat, alot of that extra stuff in the back could be dropped and would probably make the beat alot better. I think i get the direction you were going, and i actually like the drops. It could be alot better but i've heard alot worse.

yeah i was going for that dark feel. ill check on the drums being off but i do have a swing on it? and i didnt drop anything in or out until the last vrse so yeah it is cluttered, im going to keep the melody in only on the hooks and bridge when i do track it out so that should free up some room, how does mix sound? did i over compensate on the highs again(i gotta stop going to the shooting range)let me know

thanks man

lol yeah you might wanna break from the shooting range, the actual mix isn't that bad as far as the eq's and stuff go. everything sounds good on that front.

kool right now thats my main concern, i actually placed a blanket behind me covering the windows and damn what a difference the sounds im hearing are more tighter and i can play around with the sounds and not loose myself with the reverb from the room.

I want this beat to go hip-hop, but it has strong techno feels. All those synths and stuff. But definitely a wicked beat. The other kid said it's off beat, but I like it that way. It's not off in the sense that your out of beat, more that it's an offset beat, which is cool.

The song lacks structure. There doesn't seem to be a defined chorus or verse. Perhaps a hard vocal hook would pull it all together. As is, sounds like something I'd definately play during a Halloween party.

yeah i feel you i think the 32nd notes give it a tchno feel but im pure hip hop, this is the first time i went with the 32nd notes to give it that dont fuck wit me feel, so yes it is dark. as far as the structure comment when i track this beat out i will leave the melody in were the hook goes probably 8bars then drop it all out during the 16 bar vrs. maybe this will bring more structure to the beat.

You might want to think about what you want to do with this, is it for a rapper? They might have trouble catching the beat, easy to loose the 1. Maybe quantize the kick, sn, high hats to 16ths to bring them in line.

Pulls things in and out more, like the bass synth and whistle to add some suspense and space. Add a different pattern for a chorus if that is where you want to go.

The pattern seems very long before it loops, cut be cut in half or even quarters, the brain likes repetition! Copy the other half or quarters to others patterns and then you can switch between them.

Can you nod your head to it?
I can't figure out the tempo, is it slow (70bpm) or fast (140bpm) and programmed in half-time?

lol ok let me break this beat down for you guys, its 84 bpm the 2nd hi hat and the 2nd snare (yeah theres multiple hats n snares)are set to 32nd notes as well as the whip effect, other than that the appregiator is at 1/16th, this beat was not tracked out yet so i just ran it from my emu px7 into my computer and burned it. I have it set up as 8 bar hook 16 bar vrs 8 bar hook 16 bar vrs 8 bar hook then i just let it ride out from there, granted i didnt do much track dropping in the vrs parts because i just ripped it right to disk, this is a hip hop beat and the main synth will be lower and only come in during the hook as well as the melody, this is very easy to ryhme to as i got a vrse and hook for it all ready im just waiting on my boys to get thier verses together, yes you can knock your head to it if your following the kick and synth i think the 32nd notes are throwing u guys off and like i said this is the first beat where im using 32nd notes this much normally ill just use it for a quick hat. damn i didnt think id have to explain this beat that much? mybe its an east coast thing, i like complex beats because when you ryhme to them it just makes you be more creative and not
write bubble gum shit. as always i appreciate the feedback

everything in the track seems to fit the vibe you describe except the bells. It makes the track sound like an x-mas song, an evil one lol. This is a descent attempt though. Someone on here wrote that it can use some structure along with deciding what the track would be used for like a rap song or a movie sound track. Keep that in mind as you make your changes.

keep going with it.
