Default Your God Is A Disease

Okay well here is the almost year old version. I read lots of KHR stuff since then so I am wondering if this is almost good to go or if I should tweak the whole fucking thing again. Just asking since I need to get an entire CD worth of stuff together at some point. Thank you and do not be gentle.

Oy vey, already, I'll be child of Israel then.

More seriously,
It's always a problem deciding when a song is finished. I have the same problem when I paint. Sometimes I just keep putting more paint on and it ends up a mess.

As far as I can tell, its close to being finished. I couldn't hear any technical defects. Perhaps it needs a more wicked kick drum? and tighter bass? I a/b ed it with some LOG tracks, suggest you do the same with a band you like, then ask yourself again - is it as good as I can get it?

Ooops.... I took out that extra letter. Funny though... gentile maybe fit a bit with theme of the song.

Thanks for listening and comments. Who is LOG? Okay well drums/bass is a tough thing. I don't have much flexibility at all in the drums since they are betamonkey loops. Drum replacement I don't think is an option. I could certainly replay the bass, but I would never match the precision timing of the loops. I have hated my bass sound for a long time. Still hate it.

I know what you mean with the paint thing. Oh well it wouldn't hurt to EQ the crap out of the drums and bass and see (hear) what is sounds like. Probably not better, just different.

The vocal level needs some work to make it sit better with the rest of the parts - just back a tad more into the mix? Ass kicking playing going on here. Some excellent screams!! Over all, coheasive, except for the vocal level (I think it's level, or maybe EQ) a little more compression on the vocal at the beginning - the last quarter of the track sounds awsome.

The vocals sound thin even though the levels are up there. Dunno if it needs a lil bit of chorus to thicken it up cos IMO I think it'd benefit the heavy sound and message of the vocals. Especially so in the chorus. I just keep hearing double tracked vocals in the chorus. Kinda like an Ozzy flavour. Or maybe a lil eq-ing in the high mids. The message is so powerful but the sound is a tad weak IMO. My 2 cents.

Hello,

Just checking out your song. I like the sound of the guitars, drums, and bass. Nice and heavy sounding and I think the mix there is quite good.

On the downside the vocals seem "unprofessional" sounding somehow. I don't think it is the vocal performance, but perhaps a bit more compression could be applied and then the vocal could sit in the mix better. As one person already stated the vocal(s) do seem a bit thin although they are loud enough. Perhaps someone else could give some more suggestions here?

I would say that you're almost there.

That's my humble 2 cents worth anyhow.

Thanks!

Thank to all that replied. Yeah the vox took the biggest hit when I first did the song way back when. I've been trying to improve them, but even the latest stuff isn't much different. Perhaps I have been too conservitive with things.

Guess I'll dig in to KHR some more and try to improve this song and the others.

Thank much!
Charlie

The vocal sound kinda reminds me of slayer. Which is a good thing. Anyway, I caught myself singing it a few minutes later, so I had to come back and say that your mix succeeds.

I never made the Slayer connection....nah still not hearing it. Cool if you think that though. I haven't done anything with the mix yet beyond what is posted here. Going to try some new methods on a couple songs that are nearing completion.

Yeah singing along... guess you need to be careful about where you sing this song.
