Default Some live stuff

Ok, here is some stuff from last month. It is a latvian death/doom band called "Frailty". FRAILTY (NEW EP OUT 06.06.09!!!) on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Videos
The concert itself was a bit stressed, as the original vocalist was unable to perform that day, so the led guitarist took his place. In my opinion he pulled it through quite good.

The whole thing was recorded with an Edirol M-16Dx interface, 15 separate channels from the FOH mixer outputs. Gotta say - it gets a bit stressed, when you have to mix live and keep an eye on the levels for the recording as well
Anyway - awaiting comments, as i am really unable to evaluate this stuff anymore, worked on it for a week (a 6 song performance)... Also my monitors are no monitors at all - just a bunch of ancient (but decent) soviet made speakers..
Attached Files
File Type: mp3 Ariadne.mp3 (9.73 MB, 25 views)

The drums seem too buried in the mix, cept for your cymbals. Kick and snare are barely there, compared to the other instruments.

Considering how it was recorded, that is not such a bad sound.
I agree that there is not enough drums w.r.t. the guitars - but I suspect those tracks are muddy with over-spill from the guitars.
The band's ep recordings are better mixed balance wise, of course, but, interestingly, the guitar sounds on those are not as good as the live recording.
Try phones for monitors if you can't get good speakers $100 phones = $1000 speakers.
