Default Re: Second Track to Bash - heartbreaker

Musically, sounds like everything's quite together, although the overall feel is lacking in energy somewhat. The mix has quite a way to go yet, though. Everything sounds quite dull, distant & muddy. The remedy is eq. & compression. Try working on the eq. first - cutting away the frequencies of individual tracks that are adding mud to the mix. The next step is (gently) boosting the frequencies that helps to highlight each mix element. Then you will need to adjust those freqencies that are causing clashes between mix elements. Once these are under control, move on to compressing individual tracks to give them a more consistent level in the mix. Drums, bass, clean guitars & vocals a key candidates for this treatment. Of course, once you start compressing, you will probably find that the eq. will need tweaking again to.... As to suggested eq tweaks, check out this thread here for some pointers - Starter EQ Settings
