Default Progressive/ambient pop song

Hey. This song is going on my bands ep so any mixing advice is appreciated. No vocals yet. Haven't had the time. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I think the kick could use some more low end. I like the punch that it has, but it doesn't have very much body. The snare gets lost within the hi-hat a little bit in some sections, like around 4:30. It's a totally rockin' section, so I would make sure I had that backbeat in there nice and clear to emphasize the groovin. I dig the song, man, nice job.

Musically, this is different, quite adventurous stuff!.. I agree, the snare is getting lost - A victim of too much reverb & not enough attack. Get that top snare mic jumping out more - maybe use a little assistance from a "transient designer" type plugin. The drums in general are a bit muddy, & perhaps over-compressed, so when the drums get busy everything kinda blurs together with no real definition (& do I hear some distortion as well?). Perhaps paying more attention to hp filtering the individual kit pieces would help (the toms have a heap of low end happening), & backing off the compression a bit. Overall, a quite accomplished sounding piece, but lots could change when you add vocals...

I would really like to here this with vox. I dig your sound (a lot).

I agree with the folks that there is some definite muddiness happening with the drums. FQ fighting.

thanks for the feedback. i gave a bit more low end to the kick and tried to bring out the snare a bit... i have the drums in one track though so its not as easy as just turning the snare up... its still a little buried around 4:30. also it was hard to take the mud out of the drums because they're in one track... i tried taking a little low mids off of the guitars to clear that up a bit though. here it is the new version with vocals.
