Default Pre-production Rough mix

We are getting ready to record and wanted to test out our workflow and such. spent about a half day rushing through just to have some tracks to play with. No compressor on the vocals so it was really hard to mix them. There are some missing guitar parts etc...

Bash away!!!

Kick seems a bit unfocused and too much on the low end. It seemed that the overheads we a little too wide in the mix but I think most of it sounds good. The vocal maybe needs to be taken down on the bass a tad as it pumped in a few places.

umm... yeh i think you need to work on the vocal harmonies slightly on this one, in parts its quite promenant (the vocal level sounds good to me) and it stands out a mile. dont want to sound picky or anything but the effect on the guitar also seems a little messy in parts its hard to distinguish the notes in the chords you're using. I have the same trouble on my home studio but youre production mix seem ok to me. great song though

Thanks guys. This is the kind of feedback I was looking for. One area I have a problem with is the kick. Should I tone down the lower freq. on it and raise it up a little in the upper low freq?

I like a big kick, but I think this one has went a bit too far at times. The low end sometimes gets muddy and this is probalby a big part of it.

The vocals are REALLY loud compared to the rest of the music.

The background vocals need some serious tuning / retracking. The lead vocal is mostly good could be tweaked or improved in spots.

Now that the chorus has backed in it feel like levels all over the place on this one. This is usually caused by not get the foundation right first. So I'd start by working hard on the drums and bass and getting them to work throughout the song.

The kick drum drops in level quite a bit through the course of the song. This needs addresing.
