Default An Ode to Shiva (working title) ballpark mix

Think I'm somewhat happy with this mix so far. Not a final one by any means cos there's still vocals to be layered on.

Thanks to all who helped me figure out my guitar tone previously.

In any case, I'm looking for opinions/suggestions on everything (audio engineering to songwriting). Bash away!

P.S. Kinda like the off timing feel of the sitar intro. Was accidental (insufficient RAM causing latency problems) but might very well turn into incidental.

Edit: Remixed it to try and tame down sub frequencies. Having problems with the lows of the guitars and bass clashing. Time to high pass filter the guitars.

OK Vanan it sounds pretty good to me.
I think your guitar tones are fine - then I'm a bit less fussy than some.
Mix is well balanced on both my monitors and cans but kick is well sparse - remember that it does not have to be the same all the way though.
A fittting tribute to Shiva the destroyer?
Well, its certainly getting there.

this is great.as far as freq.theres charts available everywhere online, where your average freq can be gaged.i thought i had an ok ear for mixing, but when id go back and forth from a few radios the mixes would be extremely dif.now when i mix, besides the ear,i use a visual spectrum analizer.but, the guitar tones great for my taste.

I've resorted to referencing tracks between my car stereo to home stereo to studio monitors now. Each one has it's flaws and the goal is to make it sound good in all of them.

Just updated the mix. Now to leave it til I'm in the serious mixing stage. Still tracking. Mixing in my standalone box for now. Once vocals are done it'll be in Nuendo. Thanks for your response dude.

I did once consider a scooped bass sound. It's just that I'm a fan of the old 70's rock bass with lots of mids but at the same time a fan of the new Metal guitar tone. A clash in the low mids occurs. It's such a chore to seem to get my bass to fit in around the 90-150K range. Will try a scooped sound next time.

As for tone, I ended up using the direct outs from the cabinet simulation in my Behringer V-Amp 112 using the Rectifier amp sim. The rest is just a touch of compression and a sprinke of eq. lol. The lead tones were the original recordings of an sm57 mic'ing the speaker in a closet. The rhythm tone sucked, being in a closet but it seemed to work out ok for the leads. Seemed to help the leads pop out in the mix.

Sitar and tanpura drone were courtesy of Reason 4.
