Default Not what I usually do. Any comments?

I did not write the lyrics, nor sang them but I wrote the music according to what the singer wanted. It's not exactly the type of music I usually do so any advice is welcome.

Thx

Ok, if nobody else is gonna say anything, I'll jump in... Not a bad voice on the vocalist, if not the most original sound - The vocals are overly sibilant, though - kill that with a de-esser. Also, they seem very cutting in the "it hertz" range - 1-3k, so dial that back a little. The guitars seem very mid-heavy, almost a "set wah" type sound - that works for lead sometimes, but not for rhythm. The drums are very "leaden" - they don't have much excitement, & they don't really groove at all - changing the patterns to something more interesting & with more forward movement would help. The bass is too low in the mix - bringing this up would really fill out the mix & give more body to the tune in general.

Yeah... what FHumble said. Also... I don't really have anything bad to say... I'm just not caught up by it. Everything seems to be there.. but it's not grabbing me. I wish I could be more specific, but it just not making me want to go through it again. It sounds close... like just a few tweaks and it could be really powerful.

Now what are those tweaks????

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, the drums are pretty much the same pattern all over the song. The reason for it is because I use BFD 2 and my computer is not powerful enough to run my entire kit. Since I've mixed this tune, I've made a lighter kit, I should indeed build a new track. The other reason is I wanted to finish this song as soon as possible so I could work on something else. Now I have a first version, I work on something else, but I want to make it as good as possible, so I will make some tweaks from time to time until it's as good as it can be. So I will definitely change the drums and work on the vocal mix. The guitar tone was not definitive and definitly not the best one for the solos. I now have better presets for solos and I understand the signal chain a bit more. Moreover, I will have to work on my guitar tracks to increase the volume (and reduce the noise) before I send them to my amp sim.

@oldmusicguy: What is not catching you? the song? I know the hook is a bit weak and could be worked on, but the singer asked for it to be this way... You know, people who wants to become famous but want to do everything their way... That's what happens...

Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate your comments.
