Default This mix started out so good then...

it went downhill. I mixed all the instruments to a fairly solid state, then when I added the vocals in, it just destroyed everything and everything sounds like crap. I'm a member over at the Sneap forums, but this isn't really Death Metal. lol.

Any criticism is appreciated.

So, delete the vocals and get a Troll to sing you some deathmetal ones?
The backing sounds pretty OK to me, if a bit derivative.
More punk than metal? Billy Idol also comes to mind.
In terms of arrangement I think there are too many words - i.e. singing all the time and not enough breaks. It could be turned into something quite nice - but not deathmetal!

Haha.
First, not trying to make this a death metal song, two this isn't my band, I'm just recording them so I don't have much control over the actual songwriting. I'm just looking at really production input.

So yah. Thanks for your input. lol

All the midrange life and punch has been sucked out. This took away the presence of the vocal, which now sounds like he's shouting at his mic from ten feet away. The bass is too and sucking a ton of the headroom out of the production. The proportions of the mix are fine, but the sounds have wound up all thin except the bass and occasionally the kick are a bit too flabby for everything else.

The instruments sound fine with the vocals. It's the actual vocals that don't fit the track mix. I would add some midrange to the instruments.

from what i heard you need to start with the drums. i barely heard any kickdrum so there is no drive to the song. the bass is way too loud. guitars sound ok. singer is a bit off in timing, a bit too loud and way too dry. start with a ton of compression and then add some reverb and a bit of delay to him but try not to go too heavy on the verb and delay. remember winpy drums equals wimpy mix no matter what you do. you need to breath some life into them and the song will come alive too.

I can really hear this in my head as being radio quality. Get it in your head as being that good and drive it there.

Awesome guys thanks.

I had reverb and delay on his vocals already, but really don't want to go too much.
