Ive been cleaning 78rpm records for the past few days. Anyway, Im feakin sick of cleaning them, so I fired up my DAW and did some recording. It started as a simple little rhythm guitar track and a few hours later, this is what came out the other end. The mix is rough and it needs some work (levels, timing issues fixed, automation,etc..), plus some lyrics. Plus maybe some weird synth stuff. Should I continue working on it or should I dump it. Any ideas welcome.

Difficult to comment without any guide vocal. I'd move the Bass Drum to match the Bass Gtr better to give more of a driving rythm to it. I'd also add a "Middle 8" But as it is it sounds a bit "safe and samey" to my dull old ears, but good for just a few hours work. |

Drums are a Sonar Force 3005 set. I have cheap Audix Fusion mics on it. The overheads are Audix F15's. Its the $299 set. The cymbals are Paiste 302's except for one Zildjian A 16" crash. I do have an old 21" Zildjian Rock Ride. Id love to have better ones, but these work for now. After listening to the mix a few times, I hear alot of shit that needs adressed. Left overhead is too loud, I need to beef up the snare, the bass guitar needs help. And some more changes. But, like I stated in the first post, its was a quicky recording and mix. I think its time to use my "Phil Collins Big Ass Drum Sound" plugin on it.

nice little tune yuo got here but it has that "just jammin' " kind of feel to it at the moment, needs a little something in there to support some vocals - OR do more of a lead/solo type deal over most of it and you can have an instrumental on your hands. The rhythm is solid throughout, and it's screaming for leads!

Sounds like something cool to rip a nice solo over.I know you mentioned the kit but the Drums sound like ez drummer or samples to me. Guitar tones are good! Bass is a little low in the mix.The overheads are thin and phasey. Is that a word? Cool jam! |

| yes, works for me! Phasey A sound that sounds out of phase, resulting in a directionless quality and/or a flanging effect. It can be caused by picking up sound from more than one microphone, or when recording an instrument using a mic close to a surface.
