Default Left Behind (rough mix)

Here's another pre-mixing stage mix. I just wanna be sure that my tracking stage is optimum, meaning my performance is tight and that I'm getting the most out of my gear to begin with. Hoping to end up with EP material. This track was mixed in my Tascam 2488 using minimal eq and compression. Drums were courtesy of Reason 4.

Bash away!

There are some cool riffs goin on here. The guitars in general seem a little loud especially the one that holds the sustained note. The solo harmony just kicked in and im diggin that. The mix seems to be lacking mids from my point of view on my desktops.
The snare sound could use some work. All in all its pretty good. Nothing irritating. Performance is tight enough to please me. High end sounds a little fizzy.

I listened twice and im just throwin stuff out there as it hits me.

This sounds very anthemic... love those galloping rhythms! Actually, I could hear this as a sports theme of some sort. Playing sounds very good & generally it's heading in the right direction. I think it could do with some editing down though, as it tends to go on just a bit too long. Nice job.

Been debating if that lead part (chorus) you speak of, should sit further back in the mix. Guess I'll know when the vocals are done and see how the melodies interact.

Thanks! Will work on it.

What about it needs work? Levels? EQ, compression, reverb etc? The sample itself? Velocity variations?

I noticed that fizz today when I referenced the track in the work truck. Turns out, I had my presence setting on my guitar amp turned up max. Didn't realise it as it was a 2nd shift parameter of my treble knob. Didn't pick up on those frequencies in my shitty room acoustics. Thanks!

I hear EA Sports calling me. lol!

Hmmm, thanks for that. Will definitely watch out for that but I still wanna give the vocals a chance before I edit the structures.

Thanks guys! You guys rock and this site is the best goddamn site ever thought up!!!

Really? You've still got vocals to go on it? I actually thought it stood pretty well on it's own as an instrumental.

Yea raaight! If you wanna check out a shitty demo version of it with vocals, it's on my myspace page. Just click on the link below. I'd like to call it the pre-production version. lol.
