with the guitar track smacked in the middle with the bass, it seems to blend with the whole song, if i can call it that. if you want the Tom Araya sound, then you have succeeded.

however, i suppose you'd like some high end of the bass to be sticking out a bit, kinda like Cliff Burton. since its DI-ed, i would have two duplicates of the same bass track. one i would high end it, and the other i would get the bottom end. Balance volume and finally get the tone that you want.

PS-sounds like a kick ass song.

Hello Shiva,
Erm where is the actual track? I've been looking around for it but I can't
find it.

I think it sounds kind of tubby. Irawan's suggestion is a good start.

Hi Tiberius..
click here and look for my posting at the bottom just before your posting.

I need a Good Bass Guitar Sound

Irawan, yeah, that might be a good idea. Should try to separate the two as it need to isolate the guitar and drum sounds to be clearer. I do have a software called Tracks3 to punch up the sounds, but it swallows pc memory!

Should I record two tracks or just separate the same track into two parts of hi and low end?

P.s- Slayer is my root influence. Especially South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss.

Split the bass to two tracks. Put a LPF at around 250Hz on one and a HPF at the same frequency on the other. Then compress and EQ each of those separately and send them back to the same buss in mono, panned center. I like to add a slight chorus to the higher one for a nice effect.

oh wow.. then i need to do some fiddling with Sonar. I haven't reached the part to split tracks and channeling them to a buss! Btw, mind, that sounds like a fabulous suggestion!

Or Copy and Paste or Clone or Duplicate. Make two identical tracks if you have to. Better idea is to take the 8 minutes it takes to learn how to set up and route to a couple AUXes.

Good idea. Should do it tonight. I think Aux busses doesnt take so much toll on the PC. I used tracks3 last night to monitor bass and adjust levels and my CPU use shot up to 62%, thats where everything started to crackle and pop.... bummer...
