| Agreed! This will have a tough time fitting into a mix. It may sound O.K. by itself if it works. Be prepared to fix the connection where the power cord plugs in. I have seen 4 out of 6 fail there.

At the risk of sounding like an OAP, in the old days we just jacked the bass into the desk and used the channel EQ and comp. I guess this isn't good enough any more? But then I don't know what you mean by a good bass sound. Love, Tigs |

If you're going DI, I've been satisfied with the Tech21 Bass Sansamp, although you need to be careful because it can be kind of noisy.

Howdy guys, here is a first line riff from my upcoming materials for the East Side Militia project titled " Tyrant". As said earlier, the bass is done like how a few good samaritans here had advised, just direct into the lambda interface with compression from Sonitus Compressor. I know there is loads of work needed to be done, but i just want to see if there area any comments on the recording methods here. The track is not polished in any way as yet. I will get onto that later on when the song is finished. Thank you. |

First step is buy the best bass you can get, or atleast have good pickups put in an average one. Then try recording it direct or better still using an amp recording two tracks. One is the amp miked up and the other is direct - sometimes you get a line out on the amp and you can use that. A mix of the direct and miked sound could be what you're after. If I'm lazy and just getting ideas down I sometimes just use the bass sounds off my roland synth. It has some electric and acoustic bass guitars. |
