Default Celtic Punk Rock

Here's a sort of Celtic punk song but without the bagpipes and flutes which will be added later. But for now, it would be much appreciated if you guys can give a nastily thorough bashing. This is a rough 30 second idea that will eventually be recreated into a full length song so we are looking for criticism on the mixing side of things and not so much the song writing. We are already aware that the start is a little weak, we'll be fixing that very soon.

Well, there's a section for unfinished songs on this forum - perhaps if it were posted there?

Regardless, it sounds on the right lines to me, no obvious technical defects.

Sounds very good to my ears. Playing is outstanding - short, sweet & melodic... Only criticism would be that the rhythm guitars sound a bit muddy

Thanks a lot for the response! It was actually my brother who played both guitar tracks and the bass. I set up the drum loop. I know what you mean about the rhythm guitar being muddy. I think the bass is also contributing to that muddiness since I distorted it a little also. By the way, I heard some of your tracks from that link in your signature and wow am I impressed! Those songs sound professionally recorded and mixed. Not to mention the great song writing.

Though it may seem too short, I'm thinking that it would fit in perfectly with a beer commercial! Like an alexander keith's commercial or some irish beer company.

Try using the clean bass sound as your fundamental tone, then parallel process it with the distorted sound & mix the 2 together to taste. You can do this one of two ways: Either use a send to a buss with the distortion effect on it, or create a duplicate of your bass track & process it with the distortion. Make sure you high pass filter the distorted track / buss fairly heavily, so you get the clean bass providing a solid bottom end & the distorted bass providing the "apparent" tone.

Hey, thanks for the compliment! I'm just a home hobbiest trying to learn as much as I can... This site's great for that.

The first thing that comes to mind is I feel like drinking a whole lot of fuckin' beer.

Second, Good performance, good guitarist, cool sound.

I think i would change the bass drum sound a bit. It sounds a little clicky like in a metal song, when for some oi! punk kinda thing, it should be a little thumpier (IMO). The bass too... its got this weird overdrive too it and not alot of lows.

Maybe it should just generally have more lows...

Good song though.
