Default Budget Headphone Amp?

Hey everyone

I'm filling in the missing pieces of my soon to be home studio. One thing I completely forgot about was a headphone amp. My question is whether or not you would recommend a budget product. I would hate to drop a lot of cash on this but I dont want to get burnt by getting one that's too cheap. What do you think?

Any amps you'd recommend?

I use a cheap behringer one and I seem to remember that a lot of other folks do as well. I don't usually like behringer but I don't mind this.

I bot a old 80w sony receiver for $24. I don't think I've been able to push a watt on the meters - phones or speakers.

I have no regrets buying the Presonus HP60. (Now the Firestudio is another story )

PreSonus

The HP 60 works perfectly. Lots of clean volume and options for expansion with stereo out of each channel.

Like garww, I have seen the cheap, random stereo amplifier used to good effect in this area.

The receiver doesn't fall off the shelf when I insert a plug. It's 48 pounds. To insert a plug in my little guitar amp, I have to stand up and use both hands. Gets old after awhile : ) But the thing is that most any amp will do. Having the super cranked SPL may be a consideration, nor not.

Also, the headphone jack on my US122 interface works just fine and I also use the soundblaster / soundcard port. The little fone port on desktop media speakers is fine, too, and you have some preamp controls.

A Phonic Monitorcentral A6300 is fine.... Cheap (around £100), rack mounted, and has 4 head phone outs...

Depends how many people need head phones at the same time...
