Default Bash this Instrumental

I used BFD for the drums. All I have is a stereo mix of the drums. I used some eq and parallel compression on the drums mixed -2.5 db of original drums.

I used POD Farm for guitars, and bass.

Running Pro Tools LE 8

Let me know what you think and how I could improve this mix.

Thanks in advance, hope you enjoy

Dave

The rhythmic feel falls out somewhere between :20 and :28. The drums are overall very light. Possibly because they are on the tubby side. Lean them out some and they'll sit better and you can fade them up so they can drive the tune. Right now, it's kind of "Drums? Check. Got Drums."

The tapping thing around 2:00 isn't good enough. The echo-y delay deal at the end isn't as prominent as the other lead sections.

Overall, a solid start.

Hello,

Some cool ideas in there. Some nice guitar chops throughout the tune.

I liked the guitar playing but was not crazy about that particular effect used near the end. Just too much like, "Hey everyone, I have this new pedal so here it is...................and here it is some more." Too much of a somewhat interesting sound.

You (or who ever played the guitars) did a nice job on the guitar work overall, and it would sound so much better with a good drummer laying down the tracks. The BFD kick sound is ok, but the snare and toms do not sound very good at all. You might want to try some of the presets found in the VST compressor from Stillwell called Rocket.

The Rocket | Stillwell Audio - It's About The Sound

Fix the drums and it will be kicking!!!

Cheers!
