Thanks man, I think a lot of the better-soundingness had to do with the fact that we re-recorded most of the guitar and experimented with differnt mics, mic placements, and layering/panning. As far as the drums though, at first I was falling into the 'louder is better' mindset as opposed to trying to find frequencies that cut through.

At first I didn't understand what you meant, after listening back its pretty clear. The guitars don't have any compression or eq on them. I think maybe if i cut the intro very slightly in the beginning it will get rid of this, or make it less obvious.

I'm not sure, I have to ask my bass player. All I know is that its nothing too expensive, it's a fender, and its black and white (if that helps any).
We also used a simulated bass amp in garage band, and some minor compression to take off the edge. These things manipulated the tone a lot also.
