Hello, everyone. I learned about this forum from k-v-r. I recorded a Halloween piece that I am very happy with. It is sort of instrumental progressive electronic rock piece. Believe it or not, it took me about 8 months to complete it. The name of the piece is Trick of Treat. I used EW Symphonic Choirs, Prominy LPC, EZDrummer, and lots of other good stuff. Thanks for the listen (and any comments)! (Its not too long). jeffn1 Last edited by jeffn1; 10-21-2008 at 05:45 PM. |

| Thanks, Scottish. It is amazing what you can do with some of the new technology around. Although, I have to say, for that short intro (and outro) it took me a long time. Personally, I like the back and forth (counterpoint?) between the guitar and synth. jeffn1 |

Great job on the choir! I should have thought of that! I know what I'm doing next year! Why does this remind me of something the Transiberian Orchestra would do? Great job!! I love it. ![]() Audio Engineering I'm Bashing This Recording without permission. The snare is a bit tame. I would have compressed it a bit with a super fast release to bring up some harmonic content to make it just a bit meaner and get it out of "suitable for jazz" land. Overall I would have "metalled up" the mix just a hair. I don't mean double bass or palm mutes. I mean the mix could have felt a bit more evil (if that was even the goal...that's just what I do every single time). Great job! Brandon

Hopefully some other people will check it out too. I understand your point about this mix (and make it more "metal"). Frankly, I was happy that I was able to get the sampled guitars (Prominy LPC) where there are in the mix. jeffn1 |

| So you knew about this competition for a long time? Or just decided to make a Halloween song back in February? Haha, but seriously... good tune, I really like the progressive elements. Some crazy time signature jams in the middle would have been cool, too... but that's just my brain being greedy. |

Yep, I made this tune a while ago, but just heard about his competition. If you like interesting time signatures, check out Time-Space Continuum (SoundClick artist: Jeffrey Naness - I think my music shares some elements of older Rush instrumentals, with an emphasis on synth and eme). Take care. jeffn1 |
