I have quite a bit of rigid fiberglass that I got for free. I have a lots of sizes but plenty to make some nice sized corner traps. However the stuff is in 1/4 inch thickness. I plan on stacking them to make six inch traps. But would there be any benefit to spacing them a little as I stack them? I mean like maybe a small 1/16 or so space between the sheets. Using a little spacing of course I could make a lot more panels, but if it really reduced the effectiveness I would of course just pack them tight. |

If it were me, I'd just stack 'em. I leave the interior decorator stuff to.....well, nobody. Brandon |

Well if I was to space them they would look no different after they are covered, you could not see if they were spaced. However I have asked the question in a number of places and no one is really sure, even the acoustic experts say it is an interesting question. But the spaced panels would need to be tested. So I probably will stack them together. Last edited by riccol; 07-21-2009 at 03:36 PM. |

One thing everyone agrees on is the more total absorption, the better. The more dispersed this is throughout the room, the better. Brandon |
