Default Studio Flooring Question

Hello, I am currently building my own studio (for personal use) in the basement of my house. Although I’m not investing hundreds of thousands of dollars in this project, I’m not going cheap either. The room is 9 X 14 X 8 and the floor is now concrete. It is important to understand that I cannot go with a wood floor because in the region of Montreal, the relative humidity varies too much between winter and summer, and basically no wood floor would resist to these extremes in a basement (even if using humidifier in winter and dehumidifier in summer.) So I guess my choices are: carpet or floating floor. Or something else I may not think of? While at it, would you build a subfloor? My guess, yes, but I’d love to get your take.

Thanks everyone.
Patrick

Default Re: Studio Flooring Question

Could you go with a painted floor? That's becoming more and more popular hear in the states. Michael Wagener's (I attended his workshop a couple years ago) live room was a painted concrete floor. It worked very well.

You could go floated but an 8' ceiling is very low and I would want to save every inch I could.
